Karen Erlichman,

Karen Lee Erlichman, MSS, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker in private practice in San Francisco, where she provides psychotherapy and spiritual direction. Karen is also the director of Jewish Mosaic’s San Francisco Bay area office.
Karen has worked in the field of Jewish communal service for nearly twenty years. Formerly the Interfaith Outreach Program Director at Jewish Family and Children’s Services, she is a founding member of the Bay area Jewish Welcome Network, a group of Jewish professionals and lay leaders engaged in collaborative, innovative approaches to Jewish programming, outreach, ritual and advocacy that welcome interfaith couples and families into Jewish communal life. She is a past co-chair of the Jewish Women’s Caucus of the Association for Women in Psychology, and a current member of Spiritual Directors International.

Karen’s writing has appeared most recently in Tikkun, online at http://interfaithfamily.com, and her article entitled “Cultivating Compassion” was recently chosen as one of the winners of the 2005 International House Vision of Hope Essay Contest, addressing prejudice and stereotyping in the wake of 9/11. Karen is also a faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at University of California-San Francisco.
